Only accessible in India, Battlegrounds Mobile India is a version of PUBG Mobile. Krafton has created and marketed this hugely popular multiplayer battle royale game. The game was released for Android smartphones on 2nd July 2021.
BGMI Gameplay
Battlegrounds Mobile India is a mobile shooter game in which up to 100 people compete in a battle royale, a form of large-scale last man remaining deathmatch in which players compete to be the last one standing. The game may be played individually or in a small group of up to four players.
Players jump out of an aircraft onto one of the six maps: Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Vikendi, Livik, and Karakin.
Players must rapidly calculate the optimum moment to eject and parachute to the ground since the plane’s flight route across the map changes with each round. Players start with nothing save their clothes, which do not influence the game.
Once on the ground, players can scavenge buildings, ghost towns, and other regions for firearms, vehicles, armor, and other items. These items are scattered randomly over the battlefield at the start of a match, with higher-risk zones typically having better gear.
Players who have completed the game can be plundered for their items. Players may choose between first-person and third-person modes, each having its own set of advantages and disadvantages in terms of gameplay of combat and situational awareness; however, server-specific settings can be utilized to compel all players into one perspective, removing certain advantages.
The map’s playable region decreases to a random place every few minutes. Any player discovered outside of it is kicked off the safe zone, taking damage incrementally and eventually being eliminated if the safe zone is not entered in time in-game.
The boundary is seen as a shimmering blue wall that the players contract over time. As a result, the map narrows, increasing the chances of encounters. During the match, random sections of the map are marked in red and bombed, posing a threat to players who remain there.
Players are notified a few minutes before these occur in both circumstances, giving them enough time to choose a safe location.
A plane may periodically fly over various portions of the playable map at the complete random round of golf, which takes around 30 minutes on average, or anywhere a player uses a flare gun, dropping a loot box containing goods that are generally unobtainable during normal gameplay. These packets create a bright red or yellow smoke that attracts players’ attention and leads to more fights. On average, a round of takes roughly 30 minutes.
Players earn in-game cash based on how well they do at the end of each round. Cosmetic goods in-game may be purchased using cash.
Development & Background
Under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India banned PUBG Mobile and 117 Chinese apps on September 2, 2020, claiming that the apps were engaged in prejudicial activities and a threat to India’s sovereignty and integrity, defense, state security, and public order.
India being the most profitable market for PUGB, the game developers started working on the ways to come back in Indian market. While they were working with Indian Govt agencies and authorities to bring back PUBG mobile, they also started working on a dedicated version of the game for India.
BGMI Release Date
On May 6, 2021, the game was revealed. The game’s pre-registration period began on May 18, 2021, for Android users, and the game’s early access beta version was published on June 17, 2021, exclusively for Android users.
IGN India first reported on the data being transmitted to Tencent-owned China servers after the early beta release for Android users on June 21, 2021.
According to the Times of India, one explanation for this might be Krafton’s PUBG Mobile account transfer function, allowing Battlegrounds Mobile India gamers to transfer their account and game data from PUBG Mobile to BGMI until December 2021.
However, it was just for those that sync with Facebook and Twitter, with no Google syncers. Following this data sharing infringement, Krafton, the Battlegrounds Mobile India developer, made a brief in-game update on June 22, 2021, to address the data-sharing issue with China-based servers.
It has also been noted that if a user deletes the program data, the game will ping Chinese servers.

Are PUBG and BGMI same?
Yes. PUBG and BGMI looks similar but they are exactly the same game. In tech language, it is called game reskinning. While the logics, gameplay, user experience, features etc. all are same, the characters, colors, maps, objects, tools etc. can be different on reskinned games.

BGMI Ban
After banning PUBG earlier, Govt of India also banned the Battlegrounds Mobile India which was supposedly the reskinned version of PUBG. The Chinese backed game was taken off from both Google Play Store & Apple Store.
Though there was no official statement from Indian Government, it was understood that the series of Chinese apps were banned for same or similar reason. These apps found to be spying, stealing personal information, tracking and trading users’ data and posing other national security threats that were not clearly stated by the government.
BGMI officials stated that they are negotiating with the government to restore the game to Indian game lovers.
